The world export of tea from Turkey in January-February 2023 increased by 8%, to $3.2 million, Ahmet Hamdi Gurdogan, deputy head of the board of the Eastern Black Sea Exporters Association (DKİB), told reporters.
According to him, Turkish tea has entered the shelves of 76 countries of the world during this time. In total, 661 tons of tea were exported from January to February.
“Belgium and Great Britain became the leading importers of Turkish tea. It was also supplied to Saudi Arabia, Algeria, Denmark, Moldova, Taiwan, Malaysia and other countries,” Gurdogan said.
Turkish tea is mainly grown in the province of Rize on the eastern coast of the Black Sea. It has a special dark red color and a tart taste. Currently, Turkey is one of the five largest tea producers.
