The state inspection revealed that more than 263.8 thousand residential premises were critically damaged in the disaster area. A total of 370,000 buildings were inspected in 10 provinces. Turkish government commission concluded that 400,000 new buildings need to be built in the region. 300 thousand of them will be housing stock.

The Turkish Housing Development Authority has already started implementing the recovery plan. In March, the construction of 30 thousand residential buildings will begin, and by June their number will increase to 100 thousand.

Part of the funds for the construction will be directed from the DASK compulsory insurance fund. In the 10 affected provinces, 49% of the houses were insured, therefore, the residents will receive compensation.
