In February 2024, Indonesian authorities will introduce a tax for tourists entering the island of Bali. IDR 150 thousand (about $9.6) will have to be paid by all entrants, including children. The payment will be made in Indonesian rupiahs to avoid currency fluctuations on the income from the tax.
So far, the authorities have not decided in what place the tax will be collected: immediately upon arrival on the island or already in the hotel. The fact is that the tax applies only to tourists arriving on the island of Bali.
Paying the tax at the immigration post at Ngurah Rai Airport is expected to cause queues. And this is undesirable as the air harbor, on the contrary, is trying to avoid crowding.
Tourism Minister Indonesian Tourism Minister Sandiaga Uno said the tax should be collected before tourists travel to Bali to avoid queues at the airport.
