The well-known businessman Elon Musk considered the proposals of several companies, and ultimately chose the Turkish telecommunications satellite Türksat 6A to launch it into orbit in 2023.

This project is “the best option” in terms of technical, administrative and financial aspects, Turkish Transport and Infrastructure Minister Adil Karaismayiloglu said.

“Work on the integration of the engineering model within the project has been completed, the testing phase has begun. In 2021, it is expected that the integration of the satellite flight model will be completed and the stage of environmental testing will begin, ” the minister told reporters.

The satellite will be tested at the Space Systems Assembly, Integration and Testing Center (AIT) in Ankara. Türksat and Elon Musk’s SpaceX have already signed an agreement to start all work.
