The Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Turkey has published data on tourist flow for the first 9 months of 2023. Over 39 million tourists visited Turkey during this period. They replenished the country’s treasury by more than $20 billion.
This year, Turkey intends to receive 60 million travelers and receive revenues from tourism in the amount of $56 billion.
Russians are among the largest group of foreign vacationers. In the first nine months of this year, 5.2 million Russian citizens visited Turkey. This is 34% more than in 2022.
According to tour operators, the vast majority of Russians prefer to vacation on the Mediterranean coast. The following resorts are in high demand: Alanya, Antalya, Kemer, Side and Belek. Since this year the number of tourists in Mersin is growing. 85% of travelers from Russia choose these places. Just over 12% choose Bodrum, Dalaman, Fethiye, Kusadasi and Marmaris on the Aegean coast. Russians choose Istanbul for short-term vacations, including in winter.
