About 47 million tourists visited Turkey between January and November 2023. This is 10.8% more than in the same period of the previous year. This was reported in the Ministry of Tourism of the country.
Russians were among the largest group of travelers. For 11 months, more than 6 million Russians visited Turkey. This is 13% of all foreigners who arrived in the Republic. During the same period in 2022, 4.95 million Russian citizens vacationed in the country.
German citizens took second place with 5.96 million people. Their number compared to the same period of 2022 increased by 9%. In third place were the British with 3.7 million tourists. This is 400 thousand more than in 2022.
The most popular destination for tourists was Istanbul. In the first 11 months of 2023, more than 16 million foreigners visited the metropolis.
In the resorts of Antalya rested 14.5 million tourists. This is almost 31% of all travelers from abroad.
