Article 20 of the Turkish Citizenship Law “Exclusive Acquisition of Turkish Citizenship” has been amended. Now land plots are excluded from the number of objects eligible for citizenship.
Previously, a foreign investor could purchase land for construction or agricultural needs at a cost of $400 thousand and on this basis to obtain Turkish citizenship. Now only land plots with buildings are suitable for obtaining a Turkish passport. It can be a residential complex (condominium) with common ownership of land (easement). The total value of the object with land in the TAPU must be at least $400 thousand.
Recall that real estate acquired under citizenship cannot be sold for 3 years. In addition, the object must be owned by a Turkish citizen. It is impossible to obtain a Turkish passport for real estate, which has already been granted Turkish citizenship.
