The export of Turkish clothing continues to grow. In February 2023, Turkey earned $3.2 billion from the supply of clothing abroad. This is 1.5% more than in the same period last year. This was reported in the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM).
Istanbul was the top exporter with $2.3 billion worth of ready-to-wear garments, followed by Bursa with $267 million and Izmir with $226 million.
European countries showed the greatest interest in clothing from Turkey. Germany became the leader in the purchase of Turkish goods. In second place is Spain, and in third is the Netherlands. Turkey exported clothes to 176 countries. The share of the ready-to-wear sector in total Turkish exports was 9.6%.
