Turkish airports set first post-COVID air travel record

In February 2023, air travel in Turkey finally reached pre-Covid levels. The number of flights increased by 28.3% and reached 108.2 thousand flights. This is a record number of flights in Turkish airports over the past 3 years. The number of domestic flights amounted to 65.4 thousand, and international – 42.8 thousand. Such data were reported in the General Directorate of Airports of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of Turkey (DHMI).

Passenger traffic at Istanbul airports also increased last month of this year. Thus, the country’s main international airport received 5.1 million passengers. 26.5 international flights and 9.5 thousand domestic flights passed through this air harbor. At Sabiha Göchken airport 2.4 million passengers arrived. 15.4 thousand flights were made from this Istanbul airport.

Istanbul Airport is recognized as the busiest in Europe. In addition to the main stream, a huge number of connecting flights are carried out through it.
