A single tourist visa for the Gulf Cooperation Council states may become operational next year. This was announced the day before by the Minister of Economy of the United Arab Emirates Abdullah bin Tuq Al Marri.
Thanks to the innovation, tourists will be able to travel freely in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, Oman and Kuwait.
Gulf nationals have visa-free entry to each of these countries, but foreigners will apply for tourist visas. The UAE believes that the visa-free regime within the bloc will additionally give the development of the tourism sector.
Earlier in September, Economic Development Minister Maxim Reshetnikov said that Russia has proposed the complete abolition of tourist visas for five countries: Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and Malaysia. Work in this direction is already underway with the active participation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia. As it was noted in the Ministry: “it is expected to sign relevant agreements with partners in 2024.
