Working as a volunteer in the Arab Emirates gives you the opportunity to get a “golden visa” – a residence permit in the UAE. This is reported by the UAE Federal Authority for Identification, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP).
The 10-year visa can be granted to:
- Members of international and regional organizations or outstanding employees in them with at least 5 years of service
- Members of public benefit associations and institutions or outstanding employees who have worked in them for at least 5 years.
- Holders of commendation awards from one of the local, regional or international agencies specializing in humanitarian activities
- Outstanding volunteers in the field of humanitarian aid for a period of at least 5 years or 500 hours of volunteer work
- Philanthropists who have invested an amount of at least AED 2 million or its equivalent in humanitarian work
There are a number of official volunteer organizations in the UAE, work in which will qualify for a “golden visa”. These are the Red Crescent Authority, Dubai Volunteer Center, Dubai Cares and others.
